ABOUT OUR PUB

The Black Horse, a historic inn in Limbrick, Lancashire. With low-beamed ceilings, flagged floors, open fires, and cozy rooms, it serves pub classics and daily specials. Its past is colorful, having stood on the original A6 and serving travelers and even Oliver Cromwell during the Battle of Preston. Licensed in 1577, it’s one of the oldest recorded pubs in the country.

The Original Inn

According to Thomas Burke’s historical records, an inn has stood on this site since 1066. Parts of the original cellar still serve beer to this day, marking over 950 years of continuous service.

The Black Horse received its official license, making it the first recorded pub in the country. This historic milestone established our place in British pub history.
